Patsy McKinney
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Patsy is Mi’kmaq from Dalhousie and her family is connected to Eel River Bar First Nation. She has served as Executive Director of Under One Sky since 2008. Patsy holds a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies.
Patsy is currently part of the Executive Committee of the Urban Aboriginal Knowledge Network (UAKN) Atlantic Research Centre and sits on the Board of the National Association of Friendship Centers. She is a member of the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council (NBAPC) and the UNB Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre Council of Elders. In 2019, she was appointed to the Federal Expert Panel on Early Learning and Childcare Data Research.

Shelly Rickard
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Shelly was born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick and graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Office Management. As the Director of Operations, Shelly brings over 27 years of leadership experience in finance, human resources, management and operations in both profit and non-profit organizations.
Shelly has been an active member of the community serving on local Home and School and Parent Student Support Committees, as well as being a board member of the Fredericton Youth Hockey Association and most recently, Women in Transition House. In her spare time, you will most likely find her hanging out at the family cottage on Grand Lake with her husband and children.

Jennifer Moore
OFFICE MANAGER
Jennifer was born and raised in Revelstoke, BC and grew up between there and Golden, where she graduated from Golden Secondary School in 1996.
Jennifer has lived all over Canada. She has resided in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick and currently resides in Harvey, NB. Jennifer is the proud mother of two adult children, Gorden and Madelyn. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys crafting and playing games on the computer.

Derrick Wheelan
GROUNDS AND FACILITY COORDINATOR
Derrick grew up in Woodstock and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1987. Derrick has lived in the Fredericton area for over 25 years and has over 30 years experience in the grocery sector. Derrick is a proud father and grandfather.
Derrick has been with Under One Sky since October 2020 and can be found driving our Head Start kids to and from their many adventures and keeping our facilities clean and safe.

Alyse Duffney
COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
As a proud Mi'kmaq woman, Alyse’s work is devoted to the revitalization of Indigenous Leadership in the Atlantic Canadian region. In 2018, she graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies.
Alyse is currently the Communications and Outreach Coordinator at Under One Sky Friendship Centre where she enjoys mentoring students in work-integrated placements and engaging her community in conversations around providing and supporting more inclusive work-spaces through Cultural Awareness workshops.

Kelsey Nash-Solomon
INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE SPECIALIST
Kelsey is a daughter, a sister, a mother and a friend. She has 3 gorgeous growing boys who keep her on her toes each and every day. Kelsey was born and raised off reserve and had little contact with her Wəlastəkwey community of St. Mary’s First Nation. She is a proud Wəlastəkwewiskwehs who takes pride in her love for her culture and language.
Kelsey received her diploma in Early Childhood Education in 2010 and received her Diploma in Maliseet Immersion in 2015. In her spare time you can find her drumming, singing, and being surrounded by friends and family.

Brigitta Francis
INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE SPECIALIST
Brigitta is a recent graduate of St. Thomas University, holding degrees in psychology and Native Studies. They have been reconnecting with culture and language since 2019, working with elders and knowledge keepers to learn more about the history of the Wabanaki territory.
A proud Mi’kmaq person, Brigitta’s dream is to be fluent in the language and continue to help others learn about their people’s history. When not researching or speaking to Elders, Brigitta can be found painting, drawing, making traditional baskets and connecting with friends and family.

Michaela Finnamore
PROGRAM FACILITATOR
Michaela is a sister, auntie and friend who grew up on the beautiful unsurrendered and unceded Wəlastəkok territory. She graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and History.
As a reconnecting Mi’kmaq and Metis woman, Michaela believes in the power of storytelling as a tool for connection and healing. With the support of local Elders and Knowledge Carriers, her goal is to foster inclusive environments and safe spaces while providing opportunities to empower individuals and communities to embrace cultural diversity and work together towards collective healing. As a lead facilitator, Michaela is committed to preserving Indigenous traditions and amplifying Indigenous voices.
Michaela considers herself an iced coffee enthusiast and can often be found reading, beading, doing puzzles with her nana and playing pinball.

Brianna Hood
PROGRAM FACILITATOR & TRUSTED SOURCE
Brianna is a proud reconnecting and healing Wolastqik woman from Fredericton NB. Brianna has a 7-year-old dog named Hank (Hanky) who loves going for drives around Fredericton and people watching.
Brianna graduated from NBCC in 2023 with a background in Social Service Community Worker. Brianna has always had a passion for life long learning and can often be found searching for training and educational opportunities for both herself and others.
In her spare time Brianna loves to watching documentaries, going for drives to the Mactaquac Dam, going to the market on Saturdays and sleeping in on Sundays.

Sue King
NURTURING ROOTS FAMILY ADVOCATE
Sue is a lifelong learner, a natural leader, and a humanitarian. She has an invested approach to Indigenous healing through a feminist lens backed by a myriad of educational opportunities, volunteer, and lived experiences. Her work focuses on trauma-informed practices, listening to individual narratives, while being person-centered and anti-oppressive.
Sue takes pride in her development and implementation of various programs such as street outreach and housing support, assisting youth through transitional housing, an awareness of grief and loss, intergenerational mentoring with young adults, and applying a harm reduction model to address substance use disorders, mental health, and generational trauma.
Sue appreciates a good cup of tea and a great sense of humour. She loves nature for her physical and mental wellbeing. Sue enjoys cooking for and playing with her family and friends. Sue’s motto is “going by the seat of my pants”!

Morgan Greer
OUTREACH SUPPORT
Morgan was born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Morgan graduated from St. Thomas University with a double major in Criminology and Native Studies in 2021.
Morgan enjoys being outdoors, wood working, playing with her dog and 2 cats and spending time with her family and friends.
Morgan is new to the Under One Sky family. She is very excited and hopeful for her future within the Under One Sky community.

Amanda
WELLNESS NAVIGATOR
Amanda was born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She recently moved back home after living in Alberta for 10 years. She graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Social Work in 2021. Amanda has over a decade of experience working in various helping professions, with both individuals and families, in such areas as domestic violence, mental health, and substance use. She has a passion for social justice and plans on going back to school for her Master of Social Work.
Amanda loves spending time with her family and friends, and her cat, Mooshka. She loves being out in nature, hiking, yoga, reading, and meditation. She is the newest member at Under One Sky and is excited to be apart of the community and is looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Kenzie Empey
JORDAN’S PRINCIPLE NAVIGATOR
Kenzie came to us from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory in Ontario where she was born and raised into a traditional Mohawk family immersed in culture and language. She has two Daughters, Two Fur Babies, is an Auntie, Sister, Wife and Daughter. She has attended various post-secondary institutions and holds certifications in Early Childhood Education, Health Care Aide, Community and Justice with a special interest in Indigenous Youth in Care and has goals of becoming a doula.
She brings over 15 years of working with northern Indigenous families through teaching, counselling and support work.
As the Jordan’s Principle Navigator, Kenzie brings a wealth of knowledge to support the Indigenous children and youth offering educational, health and social supports for the betterment of their lives. -

Vicki O'Sullivan
HEAD START COORDINATOR
Vicki O'Sullivan brings over three decades of experience in early childhood education to her role as Head Start Coordinator. Her journey began in Kingsclear, where she worked as a Daycare Director and then Kindergarten teacher. She’s since shared her knowledge as an Early Childhood Education Instructor at several colleges in New Brunswick. Vicki holds a degree in Education with a minor in Psychology and a concentration in early childhood education.
She values each child’s potential and strives to create spaces where children feel safe, valued, and connected. With a heart for learning , she’s passionate about creating environments where indigenous culture and education thrive.
Outside of work, Vicki enjoys time with her four dogs, who keep her as engaged and energized as the young children she supports.
