  • Our innovative Take it Outside (TIO) program uses discovery based learning activities in the outdoors for preschool aged children attending Aboriginal Head Start Programs. By bringing children into the natural environment and orienting learning towards a strengths and discovery based format, Take it Outside builds the capacity of parents/families and children to be more confident and excited to be in the outdoors and do things in their environment comfortably.

These trainings aim to enhance individuals' understanding of cultural differences, historical contexts, and the impacts of colonization and systemic discrimination on Indigenous peoples and their communities.

  • Land Based Learning is an opportunity to teach and learn cultural knowledge and language through direct experience of being “on the land” while encouraging confidence in the outdoors for children, staff and families. These experiences are not only meaningful but reconnect us to many aspects of traditional living.
