The Nurturing Roots Freezer Meal Initiative is designed to support families of children living with disabilities by providing nutritious, ready-to-prepare meals. The program promotes health, stability, and quality family time by reducing the daily burden of meal preparation. Immerse yourself in the rich traditions of Powwow dance! This class introduces kids to the vibrant movements and rhythms of Indigenous dance, fostering cultural appreciation and physical fitness. Under One Sky is a Community Food Smart (CFS) Distributor. CFS is a bulk food buying club for individuals and families keen on purchasing quality fruits and vegetables at affordable prices, sourced from local farmers when possible.

Members can place an order for one or two fresh produce bags a month. The price of a food bag is $15. There is no requirement to place an order every month.

Ekehkimotsisək & Nekwtakomahtit

Over the course of 10 weeks, Ekehkimotsisək naka Nekwtakomahtit (Little Learners and their Families) with Kelsey Nash-Solomon provides families with the opportunity to learn conversational Wəlastəkwey including greetings and kinship terms. Classes will involve fun lessons, drumming, songs, games and sacred medicines.

Maoi Ginaamasoltinej Mi'kmaq Level 2

Over the course of 10 weeks, students will learn some basics of the Mi'kmaq language in a culturally safe environment with the goal of being able to communicate more effectively with the Mi'kmaq community. Through listening, speaking, and storytelling, this class is designed to create a safe space to learn the language both from Brigitta and from fellow students. We all have so much knowledge to share and this is encouraged for this class. Level 2 builds on the basics learned in Level One, and expands on knowledge for basic conversation.

Nurturing Roots Freezer Meal Initiative

The Nurturing Roots Freezer Meal Initiative is designed to support families of children living with disabilities by providing nutritious, ready-to-prepare meals. The program promotes health, stability, and quality family time by reducing the daily burden of meal preparation. By offering nutritious, pre-portioned freezer meals and engaging caregivers in hands-on learning, the initiative fosters life skills, improves family well-being, and enhances caregivers’ ability to focus on the individualized needs of their children.
